American Visceral Leishmaniasis (AVL) in Brazil has been reported in several cities in the country, which have been undergoing an urbanization process, with dogs as the main reservoirs of infection for humans. Due to environmental degradations, conditions are created that allow the approximation between man, populations of sand flies and dogs, forcing the adaptation of the vector to human peri and home environments, allowing for new transmission cycles. In this context, the disease presents itself as a serious public health problem, and the recommended control measures are not always known by the population residing in the areas of focus of the disease. This project aims to train veterinarians through theoretical and practical training on the diagnosis of canine infection. On the other hand, the diagnosis of visceral leishmaniasis in dogs will be carried out free of charge at all veterinary clinics and / or hospitals that partner with this project.
Objectives
